Thank you so much for joining us on the Scarf Bergara Wore podcast. We’re buzzing to have you on board. Whether you’re making your debut or you're back for another appearance, we’ve put together some quick tips to help you prepare so we can hit the ground running. Our main goal is for you to enjoy the experience, so just relax and have a laugh with us!
After all, this show is for County fans, by County fans.

1. Familiarise Yourself with StreamYard:
You will receive a link to access StreamYard, our platform for live streaming and recording the podcast.
Once the link is active, you can access the “backstage” area at any time before the live podcast. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the layout, test your camera, microphone, and speakers, and ensure you are comfortable with the setup.
2. Technical Setup:
Device: We recommend using a PC, laptop, or Mac for the best experience. Using a phone should be a last resort.
Using a Mobile Or Tablet As a Last Resort: If you do need to use a mobile or tablet as a last resort, please make sure to turn your device to landscape mode. This provides a much better visual for our viewers and ensures you fit the screen perfectly alongside the rest of the team.
Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection. A wired connection is preferable to avoid any disruptions.
Sound & Microphone Settings: Please read the ‘Sound & Microphone Settings’ at the bottom of this page.
3. Debut Questions:
If it's your first appearance on the podcast, we'll introduce you with 4 questions:
Your first game
Favourite game
Favourite goal
Favourite player(s) past and present
4. Out with the old, in with the random
Arrive Early
Please can you arrive in 'the studio' at around 15 minutes before the show starts? This is so we can test your sound, connection and have a pre-show chat about the agenda.
Be Yourself:
Authenticity is key. Our listeners appreciate genuine conversations, so just be yourself and share your thoughts and experiences openly.
Relax and Have Fun:
Remember, the most important thing is for you to have a good time. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the conversation.
Engage with the Host:
Listen actively and engage with the host. Feel free to ask questions, share anecdotes, and contribute to the discussion.
Stay on Topic:
While it’s great to share stories and insights, try to stay on topic to keep the conversation focused and engaging for our listeners.
Speak Clearly:
Speak clearly and at a moderate pace. This ensures that your message is understood and appreciated by our audience.
Swearing:
While we allow moderate use of swearing, we kindly ask our guests to avoid excessive or inappropriate language. We believe in letting your passion shine through and don’t want to stifle that energy. However, maintaining a respectful and engaging atmosphere is important to us.
Closing the Show:
Once the pod finishes, and we exit the live broadcast, if you stay “back stage” we can have a chat about how it went. It also gives us the opportunity to thank you for taking the time to come on the pod. 😊
Follow-Up:
After the recording, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance. We are here to help!
Promotion:
We will share the episode link with you once it’s live. We encourage you to share it with your network to help spread the word.
When you enter the studio, click on [SETTINGS]. You will be given the options of selecting your camera and audio devices (microphone and speakers). You can test the microphone by speaking and seeing if it registers as green blobs on the test screen. Your speakers are tested by clicking the [TEST] button – you should hear a little bit of music.
Check your device volume if you don’t hear anything. Ensure the following are ticked as per the screenshot below as these settings tend to give the best audio on your microphone, unless you connect from a professional recording studio 😊

Pro Tips to improve your Sound Quality!
1. Check your mic
Make sure the correct mic is selected from the dropdown menu in your settings.
2. Turn off echo cancellation
Echo cancellation can muddy the sound, especially for music. It's useful for podcasting and interviews. If you turn off echo cancellation, make sure you're wearing headphones.
3. Enable stereo audio
If you use a stereo mic, enable stereo audio. Stereo audio is a high quality feature that allows musicians to pan sound. You can't have both echo cancellation and stereo audio enabled at the same time.
4. Test your speakers
If you're on a computer, try going to Settings -> Audio and clicking the Test button.
5. Check your StreamYard tab
Make sure your StreamYard tab is not muted. At the top of your browser window, right click on the tab, and check to make sure the setting says Mute Site.
Once happy with the settings, exit the screen, enter your name and the headline (optional – but you could put your social media handle on there, or a little message on how you are feeling about County – keep it clean!). All you need to do then is click [ENTER STUDIO]!
We can help you if you struggle with some of this as we will have some control over your settings, or we can talk you through what you need to do to get them working. Guests sometimes have issues with Bluetooth devices, so we generally warn against using these, although there are occasions when they work fine. 😊
Guests have the option to connect their own social media platforms to StreamYard, this means that when we go live, so do you directly via your social media connections.
Look for the ‘Stream this to your audience’ option in the top right of your screen once you’re in the studio, then follow the on screen instructions.
Or, go HERE to find out more.
And once again, a huge thank you from the entire podcast team for taking the time to share your insights with us. We know how busy life gets, and we truly appreciate you jumping on to chat all things County. We value everyone who joins us and we genuinely couldn’t do the show without guests like you!
